Versiculo: an Android Bible Verse App
The android application entitled “Versiculo: Light, Food, Weapon” has 10 most common positive human feelings and 10 most common negative human feelings. Every feeling has 10 corresponding verses, for the user to have a choice. After the user select his/her preferred verse, the lines of the verse will prompt to the screen and a voice over will narrate the verse. After the verse’ voice over, a brief preach related to the verse will play while the verse lines are still on the screen. After the preach, a biblical song related to the preach will automatically play and the verse lines will change into lyrics.
This app also allows user to save notes. And every day, a verse and a biblical trivia will prompt on user’s phone. (Preferably, this will prompt every 6am)
Target of the system
Specifically, the proposed system aims to develop the following processes:
Create an android application (Versiculo) that will:
- Provide the person an appropriate verse based on his/her emotion for that day.
- Provide a preach (narration) for a certain verse.
- Play a Biblical song.
- The application will provide biblical every 6 am.
- The application will allow the users to save notes.

- What are the effects of using the Versiculo (android application) compare to the traditional one?
- What are the perceptions of the respondents regarding the Versiculo (android application)?
Scope and Limitation
- The application is designed to execute only on mobile devices with android as their operating system.
- The application will run even if you don’t have access to the internet.
Significance of the Study
The development of the Versiculo android application will be beneficial to the following:
Respondents of the study – this will be beneficial to the youth organization and pastors/adults of word life ministry, because this application is really intended for them. The application will provide ease and convenience in reading, listening to biblical verses as well as the application will provide some biblical trivia.
Future Researchers – This study will serve as a reference to those who plans to develop a system similar to this proposed system in the future.
Definition of Terms
Android Platform – Android is a Linux-based operating system designed primarily for touch screen mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. Initially developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed financially and later bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance: a consortium of hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices.
Versiculo: Light, Food, Weapon – this is the name of the android application that will be developed by the researchers.
Development Tools
Phonegap is a mobile development framework created by Nitobi. Adobe Systems purchased Nitobi in 2011. It enables software programmers to build applications for mobile devices using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, instead of relying on platform-specific APIs like those in iOS, Windows Phone, or Android. It enables wrapping up of HTML, CSS and Javascript code depending upon the platform of the device.
Jquery Mobile – is a touch-optimized web framework (also known as a mobile framework), more specifically a JavaScript library, currently being developed by the jQuery project team. The development focuses on creating a framework compatible with a wide variety of smartphones and tablet computers, made necessary by the growing but heterogeneous tablet and smartphone market. The jQuery Mobile framework is compatible with other mobile app frameworks and platforms such as PhoneGap.
