Introduction of the Study

The capstone project, entitled “Queuing System” is designed to be used by different industries in managing the flow of their customers.  The said project will be installed in the queue areas to electronically control the flow of the customers who want to avail services of a certain industry.

Businesses that don’t have an effective queuing system may suffer losses.  Monetary and customer losses may be encountered if long queues of customers will not be properly managed and accommodated. The most common scenario that a customer may encounter when visiting a business is the long lines of customers. The customers will be obligated to fall in line while waiting for their turn. Customers will be inconvenienced and will exert too much effort and time by standing and waiting in the long queues. Poor queue management will be a disadvantage in a customer-facing environment.

Proposed Solution

To resolve the aforementioned problems, the researchers of the project proposed a Queuing System that will automate the process of managing and controlling customer flow in the establishment. The system is an effective tool to prevent overcrowding in establishment queue areas. The proposed system will be installed in the establishment’s queue areas to guide customers to their designated counters. The screen will provide the queue updates by displaying the counter number and the corresponding ticket number of the customer. The proposed system helps to automate the queuing process while improving service and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective – The main goal of the project is to design and develop an automated queuing system that will electronically assist in controlling the flow of customers to improve services and enhance customer experience.

Specifically, the project aims the following objectives:

  1. To design an automated system that will manage the queuing process.
  2. The system will assist in controlling the flow of customers to avoid overcrowding.
  3. To develop a system that will guide customers while waiting for their turn in the line.
  4. The system will improve customer service and customer experience.
  5. To design an effective system that will streamline the process of accommodating customers in a systematic and organized way.

Significance of the Study

The success of the project is deemed beneficial to the following:

Different Industries/Establishments. The system will help them respond and accommodate their customers in a fast, convenient and organized manner. The system will improve their customer service as well as improve their customer’s experience.

Customers. The system will help them to conveniently wait in queues. The customers will receive satisfying services.

Researchers. The success of the study will help them gain more experience, skills, and knowledge in developing successful projects.

Future Researchers. The study can serve as their reference if they wish to make an update for the system or if they want to develop their own version of the project.

Administrator Account

Login Form – this form will be used by the intended users in logging in to the system. The users can set up their own username and password that they will input in the form to access the system.

Admin Dashboard – This dashboard serves as the homepage of the system administrator. This dashboard will be displayed when the admin logs in to the system.

The administrator’s dashboard displays the following information:

  • Number of served transactions today

Customer Management – this module will allow the admin to manage the information of the customers who are registered in the system. The admin can add, edit or delete information of the customers.

Report by Counter – this form will display the report of completed transactions by the counter. The report will be presented using a graph.

Conclusion

The researchers conducted the study to develop an automated queuing system. The system will serve as a response to the need for an effective system that will streamline the process of controlling the flow of customers in the business. The result of the study showed that the developed system met the needs and requirements of the respondents and intended users of the system. Majority of the respondents and intended users have seen the potential of the system.

Hence, the researchers concluded that the system is an effective tool to assist businesses in managing and controlling the flow of customers in the queue areas. The developed application will help avoid overcrowding and significant losses of the business. The application will further improve the over all system of accommodating customers. Customer services and experience will improve and will benefit to the welfare of the company.
