Introduction
The capstone project entitled “Online Bus Dispatch and Scheduling System” is a platform design and develops to display information of dispatching list of buses, time of departure and arrival, bus destination, bus number, bus type and other important information about the buses.
People mostly preferred buses as their mode of transportation especially in travelling long distances. Usually, people wait for the buses to arrive in a bus terminal and then wait for it to depart also. Passengers do not have an easy access to information like the time the bus would arrive and depart, the destination of the bus wherein the typical way are posted in front of the bus, the bus number, bus driver and other information about the bus. Dispatchers and operators also in a bus terminal do not have an effective way of sharing data to organize correctly the flow of buses in the terminal resulting to delays and inconvenience to the passengers. The conventional systems in the bus terminal are seen as inefficient and affect customer service.
Proposed Solution
In order to overcome the problems stated above, the researchers of this project aim to provide a platform wherein all information about the buses is available. The bus terminal management, dispatchers and operators will have a synchronized source of information for better communication and organization within the terminal. The passengers also will be able to view information about the arrival, departure, bus number, bus type, bus destination and other information about the bus by utilizing the system. The system will make it easy and convenient for the entire terminal management and passenger to have access to important information about the buses to avoid problems.
Objectives of the Study
General Objective – the main objective of this project is to design and develop a system that will display all information about the buses.
The specific objectives of this project are the following:
- The system will gather, store and display all information regarding the status of the bus.
- Output of the capstone project will have a feature that enables the checking of ticket information if they were given correctly.
- To design a system that will help passengers avoid delays and have a smooth travel.
- The project will help terminal management maintain a well-organized terminal for the passengers.
Significance of the Study
The results of this project are deemed beneficial to the following:
Terminal In-charge. If this project will succeed they will have a platform where they were able to monitor the buses’ record in an organized way. They were able to take the schedules for the arrival of their buses in the terminal. It will also make their way to arrive on the exact time in the terminal.
Passengers. They will be able to view the schedule of the buses for their convenience. They can also view all other information about the buses through the system.
Researcher. The success of this project will contribute to their knowledge and skills as programmers.
Future Researchers. They can use this study as a reference for their own version of the project.
