The capstone project, “JRDroid:Mobile Application for Jose Rizal” is designed for students as an accessible resource of learning about Dr. Jose Rizal. Conventionally, a student depends on their instructors and books for knowledge about the life, works and writings of Rizal. The conventional method is not efficient in providing students with all the learnings they want about Dr. Jose Rizal.
Educational Institutions around the globe already integrate the use of technology within their teaching methods. Technology has paved the way for students to access lots of educational resources as well as effectively assists them in their learning process.
The researchers of the study aim to develop a mobile application as an alternative source of information for students about Dr. Jose Rizal. The mobile application will significantly benefit students in completing the course Rizal with enough knowledge. The application will serve as an effective alternative for students to easily and conveniently browse for information about the life, works and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal.
The application will be developed using Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The software development technique composes of different stages that researchers must go through to successfully develop the application. After the development processes, the application will be presented to the respondents and intended users and will be evaluated by IT experts to check and test the application. The evaluation will further enhance the operation and functionality of the application.
The implementation of the application will help students to easily, quickly and conveniently access information about the life, works and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal. It will also assist teachers and college instructors in providing adequate information to their students. The application will ease up the overall process of acquiring information and knowledge about Rizal.
Introduction
The capstone project, “JRDroid: Mobile Application for Jose Rizal” is a mobile-based application that can be use by the students, specifically college students to browse information about Dr. Jose Rizal. The said project contains information about the life, works and writing of Rizal.
The life, works and writing of Dr. Jose Rizal is required and is mandated by the law to be taught in college. College instructors for Rizal and students heavily rely on books to collect knowledge about Jose Rizal. The conventional way of teaching and learning Rizal is inefficient and students may find it difficult to look for fully detailed resources. Colleges and students are in need of always available and accessible resources of information and knowledge to fully understand the contained lessons within the course.
Proposed Solution
To address the need of the college universities and students, the researchers of the study proposed a mobile application for Dr. Jose Rizal. The application will store and display all information about the life, works and writings of Rizal. By having the application the students will have a reliable and accessible source of information. All difficulties encountered using the manual approach of looking for resources will be eliminated by using the application. The application will let students learn about Rizal in an easy, fast and hassle-free manner.

Objectives of the Study
General Objective – The main goal of the project is to design and develop a mobile application that contains all information about the life, works, and writings of Rizal.
Specifically, the project aims the following objectives:

Scope of the Study
The proposed project is a mobile-based application that will only contains information about Dr. Jose Rizal. The application is limited on providing and displaying information about the life, works and writings of Rizal. The project’s intended users will be students and teachers. The project will be presented to them and to the panel of IT experts for checking, testing and evaluation.
Significance of the Study
The following individuals or groups will be benefited from the success of the project:
College Instructors/Teachers. The success of the project will benefit them by helping them provide their students reliable and accessible resources to support their learning about the course Rizal.
Students. The application will help them easily look for resources they needed when studying Rizal. They would not need to search in the internet or scan in different books to look for the lessons they needed.
Researchers. The researchers of the study will gain more knowledge and skills in developing programs along with a team.
Future Researchers. If the result is significant, the study will serve as their basis if they want to pursue the same study or if they wish to develop their own version of the project.
Conclusion
The researchers conducted the project to investigate whether students and instructors faced difficulties in finding resources they can use in studying the life, works and writings of Rizal. The researchers have seen that the current approach in learning and searching information about Dr. Jose Rizal is ineffective and inefficient. The researchers develop an android application that contains all information about the life, works and writings of Rizal. The result of the study showed that the respondents and intended users have seen the potential of the developed application in eliminating the difficulties encountered in the manual approach.
Therefore, the researchers concluded that the developed application will provide an accurate, reliable and highly accessible source of information about Dr. Jose Rizal. The developed application will help students have an accessible source of information as well as assist learning facilitators in providing information and knowledge to students about Dr. Jose Rizal.

The implementation of the developed application is highly recommended by the researchers. The researchers strongly suggest that students and learning facilitators should adapt the use of the developed application in studying and learning life, works and writings of Rizal.
