Kiosk Based Mapping System Review of Related Literature
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
This system has been developed by the researchers due to experiences they encountered during the times when they were also newcomer students. Although there is already a locator map existed, but still the information is not sufficient to guide. Most of visitors and freshmen students were always misguided with the exact location of rooms, offices, departments, external campuses and projects. The administration, faculty and staff would not be exposed and familiarized by the students. As a result, sometimes they would not be respected by the students.

Public information system
Information kiosks have become an essential part in transportation related processes and transactions. They have made printing and processing of tickets very easy and have reasonably lowered the operating cost. They are widely used for providing necessary information to travelers. They are increasingly being used at railway stations and airport for check-ins and have helped the authorities in simplifying the process and cutting down the overhead cost. You can display useful information about the offerings by retail stores and earn revenue for yourself.
There is virtually no area where information kiosks can not be used for a better customer satisfaction and cutting costs. It is being used by more and more educational institutions these days, for instance, providing access to information on the different programs, course outline, helpful student information, and registration for course, payment of fees and various other purposes.
Kiosks have extensive experience in providing specific customized hardware as well as software solutions for information kiosks for different kinds of usage and purposes.

Family Information Services (FIS)
Parent Information Point Wall mounted touch screen Family Information Services Kiosk system with custom software for the Childcare Information Service (FIS) to parents and careers about caring for children, going back to work, and a host of other information besides. Central government has made provision of this information by local governments mandatory, and not only that they also have to show that the information has actually been delivered. Kiosks for Parent Information Point provide information in four ways: on-screen, via print-out to our locally sited wireless printer, via an e-mail to the user’s home e-mail account and lastly through a free phone call using the integrated digital telephone handset (based on VoIP technology). The touch screen machines are a significant improvement on normal kiosk products by being compact, wireless and wall-mounted. Part of the system allows each council to control it’s estate of machines by using a single, web-based Management Console. This console also provides usage statistics on-demand and more. Parent Information Point is a very complete offering but the focus of the system remains very firmly, the user.
Parent Information Point Kiosk is designed specifically for delivering information in the Early Years and Family Information Services (FIS) environment. It satisfies the need to deliver live, relevant and up-to-date information to parents and careers of children.

The team is a “cradle to grave” service organization that takes full ownership in the success of customer programs — from initial solution design to manufacturing and field services.
KIOSK has partnered with clients in a full complement of vertical markets, transforming self-service concepts to deployed solutions. Projects range from traditional applications like retail, order entry, and human resources to highly specialized solutions in banking, healthcare, airport security, and outdoor ticketing. With 100,000+ kiosks deployed across this broad market spectrum, KIOSK’s abilities in customized design, sophisticated peripheral integration, volume manufacturing, and field services have been exercised far deeper than any industry competitor.
Clients with 500 – 3000 unit nationwide deployments such as AT&T, Wal-Mart, Safeway, PepsiCo, Sony, HP, and TIO set the standards bar high, and KIOSK has consistently proven the ability to execute at every stage of the program life cycle. Much lower volume clients (1 – 20 units) enjoy equal attention and responsiveness.
