Abstract
Table of Contents
Technology has changed our lives in a major way. Technology made the different tasks simpler to accomplished. Technological innovations have changed the way how different industries and organizations operate. It improves business efficiency and overall customer experience.
Homeowners association is composed of different members which require an efficient flow of information and data-sharing. They largely depended on manual processes and physical copies of documents which is inefficient. It’ll be hard for homeowners and board members to communicate easily and conveniently for updates and complete any transactions.
The capstone project, “Community Home Owners Information Portal” is designed for community homeowners to access information quickly and efficiently, anytime, anywhere. The homeowners can pay, report a maintenance issue, access information about the association meetings, and other related information they need as a member of the association.
The researchers will develop the project using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) technique. The SDLC approach composes of stages such as determining project requirements, data gathering, data analysis, designing, and coding that lead to the development of the software. After the development process, the system will go through evaluation by a panel of IT experts. The researchers will revise the system base on the recommendations of the experts after evaluation.
The implementation of the system will eliminate difficulties and problems encountered in the traditional homeowner’s operations and transactions. The implementation of the system will streamline the transactions needed by different homeowners.
Introduction
The capstone project entitled “Community Home Owners Information Portal” is a portal intended to be used by community homeowners to access information quickly and efficiently, anytime, anywhere. Homeowners will register in the system to be able to update or access the information they needed as a member of the community homeowners association.
A homeowner association (HOA) is an organization that makes and enforces rules and guidelines for a subdivision, planned community, or condominium building. The homeowners association is governed by a board of directors who enforce rules and regulations on its members. Homeowner groups normally charge monthly or annual fees to cover the costs of common area repairs and facility upkeep. When all of these transactions are done manually, it’ll be hard for homeowners and board members to communicate easily and conveniently for updates and complete any transactions. Homeowners and board members exchanges information as a member of the association.
Proposed Solution
To resolve the aforementioned concerns, the researchers of the study proposed a Community Home Owners Information Portal. It is a technology-assisted system that will let homeowners and board members access information and do transactions electronically. The homeowners can pay, report a maintenance issue, access information about the association meetings, and other related information they need as a member of the association. The board of members on the other hand can effectively and conveniently handle the entire management of the community using the portal. The system will streamline the transactions needed of the different homeowners.
Objectives of the Study
General Objective – the project’s main goal is to design and develop a community homeowners portal to let members of a homeowners association transact and access information electronically.
The following are the specific objectives of the study:
- To develop a system that will serve as a repository of information related to homeowners.
- To develop a system that will streamline transactions between members of the homeowners association.
- The system will let homeowners complete their transactions electronically such as paying the monthly fee, reporting maintenance issues, etc.
- The portal is easy, convenient, accurate, and reliable to use.
Scope of the Study
The researchers will develop an information portal designed only for community homeowners. The community homeowners’ information portal contains valuable information and data that homeowners need to access. The system will streamline all transactions and operations between members of the community homeowners. Homeowners and officers of the homeowners association will participate as respondents to the study.
Significance of the Study
The following individuals or groups will benefit from the success of the project:
Homeowners. The system will help them conveniently access the information they need as members of the homeowners association. They can also complete transactions they are required as members in a hassle-free manner.
HOA Board Members. They can easily impose and disseminate announcements and information especially rules and regulations to their members.
Researchers. The success of the project will develop the teamwork of the researchers as well as their skills as developers.
Future Researchers. The study will serve as their reference if they are planning to pursue the same project.
Conclusion
The researchers conducted the study to transform the traditional flow of information and data-sharing between community homeowners. The researchers developed an information portal and present it to the target users which are community homeowners. The result of the study showed that the developed system provides the needs and requirements of the target users. The developed system has the potential in eliminating the difficulties and problems encountered in the transaction and communication between homeowners.
The researchers concluded that the developed information portal will ease up the flow of information and data-sharing between members of the homeowners association. Community homeowners will be able to access information quickly and efficiently, anytime, anywhere. The developed system is effective in streamlining homeowner’s payment, report of maintenance issues, access information about the association meetings, and other related information.
Recommendations
The researchers highly recommend the implementation of the system for its efficiency and reliability. The developed system will improve the accessibility and availability of important information needed by community homeowners. It will allow community homeowners to electronically process their transactions using the system. The researchers suggest that the respondents and target users must study how the system works to properly utilize it.
The researchers specifically recommend the following:
- The researchers recommend that the homeowners association should adapt the system to have a centralized platform for communication and transaction between members.
- The researchers recommend that homeowners use and register in the system to easily access and be updated about important information.
- The implementation of the system is recommended for it will provide efficient information and smooth data sharing across members of the HOA.
