Definition of the Topic
The student handbook will serve as guide for students, teachers and parents as well; its main purpose is to provide useful information about the rules, regulations of the academic institution and the rights of the students.
The student handbook is given to every freshman students and new faculty/staff and it is also presented to the different stakeholders every opening of classes. This activity is very important in order to inform and update the stakeholders about the important matters concerning the school guidelines.
The hardcopy of the handbook will be reprinted every time that there will be changes or amendments on the different rules of the institution; distribution of the handbook to the stakeholders consumes a lot of time. In line with the printing of the documents, trees are being cut down to produce papers, in which it contributes to the global problem of climate change. Our era right now is on the digital era where most of our task and activity is done online and with digital tools such as the computers and mobile/smart devices.
With the above stated information, the researchers decided to propose an interactive mobile based student handbook. The mobile based student handbook can be installed on mobile smart devices (android/iOS) that makes it a portable version of the current hardbound handbook. With the rise of new technology especially on the mobile industry, a mobile based handbook is an innovative move for the school at the same time it addresses the problem in climate change, the less paper we produce the less trees are being cut down.
Manageability
What: the project on mobile based student handbook will be design and develop using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Who: the researchers will conduct an interview and observation on the staff and personnel incharge in the processing and distribution of the handbook.

Availability of Resources
Primary Data: the primary source of data is the school; the researchers will secure a letter to allow the researchers to conduct a study on the development of the mobile based student handbook.
Secondary Data: students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders, these will be the secondary source of data collection although they are not in-charge with the creation of rules and distribution of handbook but their voice is very important since they will be the one who are going to use the project. It will also be a support that the end-users have the capacity to use the mobile application.
Expected Output/Objective
General Objective
The study aims to design, develop and implement a mobile based interactive student handbook for name of school.
Specific Objectives:
- The mobile based handbook is responsive and will automatically adjust to the screen resolution of the student’s device.
- To convert the hardcopy version of the handbook to android based which will make it easier for the students to browse and read the content of the handbook using their mobile devices.

Solution:
- In order to save trees, we are proposing to develop a mobile based student handbook.
- Most of us right now especially the students have smartphones.
Causes of the Problem
Preparation of documents such as the student handbook takes a lot of time, effort and money and sometimes typographical or grammatical errors cannot be avoided. The reproduction of the said document is also part of the problem since the student handbook will be printed out based on the number of students or stakeholders the school have. This type of problem cannot be controlled by the school since most of the printing organizations are also loaded with tasks and transactions.
Effects of the Problems
Typographical and grammatical errors found on the handbook can cause damage to the institution not only in terms of financial but in terms of credibility and integrity. With this type of problem the image of the school will be affected, since it is an academic institution, every document released to the public must be fully checked and free of errors. On the case of reproduction of the handbook, if the printing organization cannot deliver the number of handbooks requested by the school on time, then not every stakeholders can read and know the rules and regulations of the student, this is the type of problem that happens every time and for every school.
