Abstract
Table of Contents
The “Web-based payroll system” is a web-based system that handles and calculates the payment of employee wages, salaries, bonuses, net pay, and deductions. The goal of the research is to develop a web-based payroll system that handles employee accounting activities such as wages, salaries, bonuses, net pay, and deductions, among other things. It emphasizes the value and advantages of a web-based payroll system for paying staff in a separate organization or for end customers. The system covers the process of preparing each employee’s pay slip, both regular and work order employees, keeping records safe, and computing each employee’s precise earnings, as well as the employee’s saved report list, which includes monthly salary, basic salary, overtime, Net pay, and deductions, as well as the employee’s saved report list.
This project’s purpose is to fill up the gaps left by the previous one. The system will be developed using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method. The researchers will gather a sample size of participating students, teachers, and other end-users to test and check the system. IT experts will assess the system to make changes. The researchers will fine-tune the strategy based on expert feedback.
Introduction of the Study
Since day one, the vastly needed purpose of technology has been increasing in a wide range of industries of business and corporations. It allows them to perform their respective tasks more accurately and easily because it covers all aspects and angles of a given task. It is critical to create a systemized or computerized platform that can drastically alter how individuals manually perform tasks. In this capstone project, the researchers create a platform called “Web-based payroll system” which is an online-powered system that manages and computes the operation of paying employee wages, salaries, bonuses, net pays, and deductions. It connects information throughout the organization. It is the most convenient way to meet these requirements. Computerized systems typically simplify information by quickly organizing reports, automatically archiving data, calculating deductions, tracking clock in/out, and minimizing manual efforts. The employee’s information has been inserted into the system so that the financial admin can easily compute and directly inputs the employee’s salary. In this manner, it would be convenient for them to perform the payroll operation by the end and half of the month.
It is stated that performing payroll operations in an organization in a manual form is prone to errors, inconsistency of data, unorganized flow data in a sheet, inaccurately compute the given digits, and because it deals with financial aspects in an organization, it is most costly because it may cause computation confusion, which leads to inappropriate payment of salaries or wages. To ensure that all of these obstacles and conflicts are avoided, the researchers create a platform that caters to the opposite of what is mentioned above. The idea as well of calculating the employees’ salaries in an organization is hectic when performing it manually; fortunately, the presence of this system covers everything.
Proposed solution
The capstone project researcher integrated a web-based payroll system to fill a gap that existed in manual form. Data that is simplified and organized quickly is advantageous in a variety of ways. For example, integrating payroll figures into an easy-to-read platform to ensure everything is accounted for, reducing the risk of invalid or missed numbers. Inconsistency, errors, and inefficient response have all been eliminated through this web-based system that manages and computes payroll transactions. Making the operation’s data accountable, accurate, and secure. The system will undoubtedly put the unwanted conflict aside to secure and manage the employees’ information and records. Because the system is database-driven, the storage capacity is enormous and secure for future use.
Objectives of the Study
General Objective-This web-based payroll system’s main goal is to replace and improve their manual for recording, computing, and administering employee salaries, making it a more reliable platform to consider.
- To design and construct a system that conveniently calculates accounting transactions in an organization, particularly employees’ earnings and salaries, and summarizes, compiles, and organizes employees’ information about their paid job.
- To make transaction reports more accurate, secure, structured, efficient, and simple.
- To create a system that tracks and handles employee payments, salaries, and wages, as well as other accounting-related tasks in a business or organization.
- To relieve the employee’s paperwork burden while providing them with accurate work at the same time.
- The system can also run online, making it easier to access and store all of the information and data that is saved in it.
Scope of the Study
The primary focus of this study is to create a web-based payroll system that manages employee accounting transactions such as wages, salaries, bonuses, net pay, and deductions, among other things. It focuses on the importance and benefits of a web-based payroll system for the operation of paying employees in a separate organization or for end-users. The system covers the process of preparing each employee’s payslip, both regular and work order employees, keeping records safe, and computing each employee’s precise earnings, as well as the employee’s saved report list, which includes monthly salary, basic salary, overtime, Net pay, and deductions. A payable list is also provided by the system, where all expected expenses, as well as any firm expenses, are documented. All of the aforementioned tasks will cover the complete scope of the system’s implementation. As a result, the work allocated to the payroll employees will be more precise, and they will answer appropriately.
Significance of the Study
The following people or groups will benefit from this research:
Organization/company: delivering payrolls and monitoring employee records, paying tracking with those records understanding that an organization can handle a large number of employees in one location is a dreadful task. Fortunately, this system accepts all of the tasks listed above, as well as making it a more efficient, accurate, and effective tool for organizing staff payrolls. This approach allows a corporation to maximize profit while reducing the amount of labor and additional equipment required to calculate pay.
Accountant/Payroll system administrator: this will allow them to retrieve and update employee records more quickly. This will allow them to provide better service, update their records more simply, and keep track of their employee’s performance.
Employees: they may have confidence in each of their records since the system is safe; they won’t have to worry about calculating their salary or other accounting or financial benefits because the system is designed to be more precise and efficient.
Researchers: They will have a better insight and knowledge of the project as a consequence of the investigation.
Future Researchers: Future researchers will profit from this study since it will serve as a reference or guide for them as they do their research.
Development Tools
The capstone project, “Web-based Payroll System,” is intended to cover the process of preparing each employee’s pay slip, both regular and work order employees, keeping records safe, and computing each employee’s precise earnings, as well as the employee’s saved report list, which includes monthly salary, basic salary, overtime, Net pay, and deductions, as well as the employee’s saved report list.
This article will provide you with an idea on what are the forms to be included in a Web-based Payroll System. PHP and Bootstrap were used to develop the said template.
