Introduction of the Study
The capstone project, “Online Donation Platform for DSWD” is an online platform for giving and asking donations in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The system will be managed by the staffs of the DSWD to verify donors and legible beneficiaries electronically. The system will have an SMS feature to notify the donors and beneficiaries about the status of their request.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is the primary government agency who is responsible in developing poverty-reduction programs for the poor and disadvantaged people. One of their major role also is to provide help in times of calamities. The DSWD is accepting voluntary donations of clothing, ready-to-eat foods, financial assistance, and other essential items that will benefit the less fortunate. Currently, the DSWD doesn’t have an efficient centralized platform for donations. Those who wish to donate would still need to communicate with the DSWD staff for verification and processing. Those who would like to ask for assistance in times of calamities would also need to visit the city social welfare agencies. The current system for donations is not efficient enough in letting DSWD easily address and process multiple beneficiaries for assistance.
Proposed Solution
To help the DSWD be more productive and address multiple donors and beneficiaries, the researchers of the project aim to develop an Online Donation Platform that will cater donors and beneficiaries. Donors will be able to register and donate electronically, which will be more convenient for them. Beneficiaries may also use the system to request help, which is more reliable and improved response time. The system will also have an SMS notification feature to be sent to the donors and beneficiaries for updates about their transaction. The system would streamline donation transactions and processes between donors, recipients, and the DSWD.
Objectives of the Study
General Objectives – the primary goal of the project is to develop an Online Donation Platform to streamline transactions between donors, beneficiaries the DSWD management.
Specifically, the project aims the following objectives:
- To develop a system that will serve as an online platform for donations.
- The system will let donors donate efficiently and conveniently.
- The system will let beneficiaries easily ask for assistance especially in times of calamities.
- To design systems that will help the DSWD cater multiple transactions.
- The system will be easy and reliable to use.
- To evaluate the developed system using a standard with the following quality characteristics
- Functionality
- Reliability
- Usability
- Efficiency
- Maintainability
- Portability
Significance of the Study
The success of the study is deemed beneficial to the following:
Donors. The system will help persons who want to donate and share their blessings by registering online and send information on how they can share and donate.
Beneficiaries. The system can help persons who ask for assistance especially during calamities using the platform.
DSWD Management. The success of the system will help staffs which are working in the social welfare management be more productive by using this online donation system.
Researchers. The researchers of the project will gain more knowledge and skills in developing programs.
Future Researchers. They can use the study as a baseline in pursuing their own study regarding online donation platform.

The Online Donation Platform for DSWD with SMS Notification is a system that allows processing of giving and asking for donations online. The system will let donors and beneficiaries to register in the system in order to easily process their transactions.

Donor Dashboard – this dashboard serves as the homepage of the donors registered in the system. The dashboard displays the following information:

Conclusion
The Department of Social Welfare and Development major role is to develop programs to provide help to the less fortunate people especially in times of calamities. DSWD accepts donations from those with helpful hearts so they are in need of effective platform to reach for donations and also for attending to request of donations. This project serves as a respond to the need of an effective platform for DSWD donations. The study showed that the Online Donation Platform for DSWD with SMS Notification met the need of the respondents and its intended users. Majority of the respondents and the intended users have seen the potential of the system in completely eliminating the manual method of accepting and giving donations which is very time consuming and prone to delays and mistakes.
The researchers of the study concluded that the project, Online Donation Platform with SMS Notification will be an effective platform to ease up management of receiving and requesting for donations. The system will streamline the transaction between the donors, beneficiaries and the in charge DSWD staff which will let the DSWD staff address multiple transactions daily. The result of the study showed that the developed system is efficient and reliable to use by the DSWD.
Recommendations
The developed system, Online Donation Platform for DSWD with SMS Notification has seen a big potential to completely assist DSWD in handling their transactions for donation. The researchers highly recommend the developed system as a way to reach out for more donors and beneficiaries by using the online platform. The system is highly recommended for its efficiency and reliability that can be rendered to the DSWD in automating all processes in terms of donation. The intended users of the system should be armed with knowledge in order to correctly utilize the developed system.
Specifically, the researchers recommend the following:
- The system should be implemented in the DSWD offices to effectively streamline transactions regarding donation processes.
- The developed system is highly recommended for it ensures reliable and fast transactions between donors, beneficiaries, and the DSWD staff.
