Abstract of Web and Mobile Bus Dispatch Information System
The capstone project entitled Web and Mobile Bus Dispatch Information System was designed and developed in PHP, MySQL and Bootstrap. It is an online platform that allows the management of the bus company to update the arrivals and departure schedule of their buses. In addition, the system can also be accessed through the users’ mobile device since it is a responsive web application. Furthermore, a kiosk will also be available for every terminal that displays the schedule of buses. A controller will update the schedule if a certain bus arrives in a specific terminal. With this, the platform can provide the commuters for every schedule of buses by just visiting or opening the web information system. Rapid Application Development model was used as the software development life cycle. The researchers used Rapid Application Development for it can produce a prototype at an early stage of the research study. The capstone project was evaluated first by the IT experts to test the accuracy, efficiency, reliability and other parameter which is vital in the success of the project. Moreover, the project was also tested by the end-users to test and verify the functionalities of the developed web application. Results showed that the output of the system is of good quality software for it passed all the criteria or parameter based on the specific evaluation tool. Based on the testing done by the end-users, it showed that the features of the system are functional and working. The researchers therefore concluded that the project is a solution that can eliminate the problems encountered in the manual process. It is also an innovative project that can benefit both the management and their stakeholders. Implementation of the Web and Mobile Bus Dispatch Information System is highly recommended for it has met the requirements of the end-users. Training on how the system will be operated must be conducted and further study is also recommended to enhance and upgrade the functionalities of the system.
