Abstract of Emergency Response App with SMS Notification
The capstone project entitled “Emergency Response App with SMS Notification” is a web and mobile based information system. It was designed to cater the needs and requirements of our respondents which are the barangay personnel, police officers, rescue teams and residents. The main objective of the capstone project is to provide a platform that could allow the residents to report or ask for an assistance and help. In return, the concerned party such as the barangay personnel, police officers and rescue teams can received the request and respond to the needs of the residents. Residents will need first to provide a valid proof of identity in order for them to access and use the system. All records and identity of its user base is very important and it will be secured and protected by the system administrators. Random sampling was used to identify the number of respondents that will answer the survey instrument. Identified respondents based on the sampling technique will also have the opportunity to use and test the Emergency Response App with SMS Notification. Rapid Application Development was used as the SDLC or the software development life cycle since a prototype is required. The prototype will undergo series of testing until the project has met all of the required features. In addition, the application was also evaluated by the experts such as the web develop and mobile app developer in order to get their opinion and suggestions. After all the instruments were gathered, the researchers tabulated it and get the mean or average of their answers. Results showed that the project or system got a mean score of 4.56 which has a verbal interpretation of very high. It is therefore concluded that the output of this capstone project is highly accepted by the respondents and end-users. The implementation of the project could play an important factor for safety of the residents. An efficient and effective quick response can be delivered also by the police, rescue teams and barangay personnel to their constituents. Researchers strongly recommend the use, implementation, proper training and maintenance of the Emergency Response App with SMS Notification to make it a sustainable project.
